Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a serious genetic disease that affects about 1,500 people in the Netherlands, of which 700 children. In recent years more possibilities to treat and slowdown the disease have become available. This has improved the lives of patients with CF, however it remains a severe and deadly disease. Life expectancy is different for every patient, however the average is still between 35 and 40 years.
Through my work I know the devastating effects of this severe disease in young people who should be in the prime of their lives. To support these patients and research in CF, I will join the Skate4AIR team again on February 2nd, 2018 together with several colleagues. In this way, I want to make a personal and sportive contribution to the fight against this deadly disease.
Skate4AIR means that I will be skating 200 km on Weissensee lake in Austria! I have started my preparations and will be spending many hours next to and on the ice in the coming months to be well prepared for this great adventure.
With my Skate4AIR participation I hope to raise again a lot of money for the Dutch Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (NCFS). Therefore please click "Donate now" to support me morally and the NCFS financially!
Thank you very much in advance and I will keep you informed of my great adventure.
